Car accident injuries come in many forms

High-speed car accidents can lead to severe injuries, including broken bones, traumatic brain injuries and other injuries that can permanently alter the lives of victims and their families. Depending upon the circumstances of the accident and the types of vehicles involved, there may be other types of serious injury as well. A recent accident in Quincy illustrates some of the other possible types of injuries in a car accident.

According to news reports, six people were treated at a hospital after an accident at a Quincy gas station. According to the Quincy Fire Department, the incident occurred at a gas station when a man apparently accidentally put his car in reverse instead of drive and crashed into a fuel pump. The pump fell onto another car, and police and firefighters arrived to help get people away from the scene.

According to the fire department, although there was no fire, an automatic fire suppression system kicked on, showering the station with chemicals. Witnesses said the people on the scene appeared to be covered with snow after the chemicals fell on them.

Two police officers, a firefighter two pedestrians and a driver suffered breathing problems and irritated throats as a result of the snow-like dusting, and had to be treated for exposure to hazardous chemicals at a nearby hospital, the fire department said. All six people are expected to make a full recovery.

While these injuries may have been minor, it’s easy to see how the situation could have turned out much worse. Indeed, in many accidents, people are injured by spilled gasoline that catches on fire, or by hazardous material that spills out of a truck.

If you have been injured in an accident caused by another person’s negligence, a personal injury attorney must investigate all the possible injuries and effects in order to recover the full amount of compensation you need. Speak to an attorney with experience in personal injury law about your options, and make sure you are calculating all your damages.
